Jorge E. Ancona

Jorge E. AnconaJorge E. Ancona was named assistant vice chancellor of alumni relations and executive director of the University of California, Irvine Alumni Association in December 2002. As assistant vice chancellor of alumni relations, Mr. Ancona oversees programs and services for UCI’s more 100,000 alumni. As the executive director of the UCI Alumni Association, Mr. Ancona is responsible for managing $1.27 million dollar budget, $5.77 million in assets, working with a 30-person Board of Directors and managing a staff of eight.

In the four years in which Mr. Ancona has been at the helm, the UCI Alumni Association has enjoyed the following successes:

  • CASE District and National Awards for Alumni Appreciation Night 2004
  • CASE District Award for Homecoming 2006 
  • establishing a Student Alumni Association
  • increasing homecoming attendance from 150 participants to more than 3,000
  • increasing membership in the alumni association by 48% (5,277 to 7,745)
  • increasing the number of e-mail addresses on file for alumni from 3,500 to 25,000 
  • increasing the operating budget for the alumni association from $850,000 to $1.27 million
  • increasing the alumni scholarship endowments from $1.46 to $2.63 million
  • increasing the alumni association’s assets from $3.43 to $5.77 million

His professional acknowledgements include numerous UCLA Incentive Awards and being named Advisor of the Year in 2001 by the Association of Student Advancement Programs. Mr. Ancona is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Council of Alumni Association Executives (CAAE) and the Alumni Associations of the University of California. He served as the alumni relations co-chair for the 2006 CASE District VII conference and as co-chair for the 2007 CAAE Winter Institute.
